Help with CVs
When sending by e-mail, ensure that you include a covering letter and that you have remembered to attach the CV to the e-mail! Also, thoroughly check what you have written and perform a spell check before you hit "send".
If you prefer to make a postal application, please use plain white paper for your letter and CV. Expensive paper, binders or folders go to waste, as your CV will be copied for circulation before anyone makes a decision on your application. We have no preference with regard to typed or hand written letters, as long as they are easy to read.
Covering Letter
Always include a covering letter with your CV. This letter should contain details of the position that you are applying for, including where you saw it advertised. If you are making a speculative application, please specify the area in which you are looking for work. A brief sentence summarising why you meet the criteria may also be added, but your CV should contain all the relevant details, so you need only point us in the right direction.
Always check your covering letter very carefully, or better still ask someone else to. This will ensure that your letter makes sense, has no spelling errors, and that the details of the job and company are correct. It is advisable to keep a copy of this letter, should you be invited to interview it will help you prepare.
