Pharmaceutical research at Organon Research Scotland focuses on three main areas:

•Psychiatry: depression and psychosis
•Cardiovascular disease: atherosclerosis / atherothrombosis / thrombosis
•Anaesthesia/Analgesia

Psychiatry research focuses on Depression and Psychosis, but with interests in other areas such as sleep disorders and anxiety.

Cardiovascular research focuses on atherosclerosis and atherothrombosis, the underlying causes of many peripheral, cardiac and cerebral vascular diseases.

Anaesthesia/Analgesia research focuses on a project designed to discover new concepts and targets for Anaesthesiology - investigating new pain relief or analgesic drugs.

Biologists working on these targets have been grouped into Molecular Pharmacology and Pharmacology, and include specialist Vascular, Analgesia and CNS sections. The Chemists are grouped into Lead Discovery and Lead Optimisation sections.
